The government of Punjab has decided to make activities related to physical education compulsory for schoolchildren.
This decision will be implemented in the state after schools reopen following the COVID-19 closure.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab School Education Department, after obtaining approval from Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla, the director of SCERT sent letters to all education officials in the district and principals in this regard.
He informed that various sports for physical activities have been included for students in grades 1 through 12.
According to the spokesperson, the aim of initiating physical activities for students is to identify their hidden talents, ensure their overall development and give them the right direction alongside providing a high-level sports platform. by selecting talented players.
He said that these physical activities will help the students to be in good physical shape, increase their flexibility and strengthen their muscles.
It will also increase the tolerance, concentration and physical balance of the students.
They will also develop a sense of leadership through physical activities, he added.
