District Five teacher appointed to the South Carolina Physical Education and Sports Association board of directors


Irmo, SC 12/27/2021 – School District Five physical education teacher Amber Hege has been elected Vice President-Elect of Physical Education on the Board of Directors of the Physical Education Association and 2021-2022 South Carolina Sports Championships (SCAPES).

“I am honored to represent middle school physical education and all students through SCAPE,” Hege said. “I look forward to working with everyone this year to promote the health and well-being of all students. ”

Hege was elected by her professional peers to the post to be an example of excellence in physical education in supporting the physical well-being of our students, adults and communities in South Carolina. This year, she will work with the SCAPES leadership to deliver the best comprehensive physical education and activity programs through professional growth opportunities, sharing best practices and advocating for legislation.

The South Carolina Association for Physical Education and Sports strives to implement and promote the development of physical education, physical activity and fitness through high quality programs research-based and led by knowledgeable and educated professionals. SCAPE delivers these programs equally to all citizens of South Carolina by promoting opportunities for professional development and participation in programs, projects and activities for its members.

Hege has been teaching physical education for twelve years. She received her undergraduate degree in Physical Education from Winthrop University and her Masters in Kinesiology from AT Still University.

Chapin Middle School Acting Principal Stephanie Huckabee said, “Not only am I grateful to Coach Hege and what she does for our students every day at Chapin Middle School, but I am delighted that she can help lead other physical education professionals. to impact students across our state.
